With reference to Sir Geoffry Northcote's
despatch No. 235 of 6th May,
resignation of Dr. (irs.) L.
1940, reporting the
53053 Fehily, temporary Lady
Medical Officer, I have the honour to request Your
Lordship's approval of the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.)
Irma Frommer to fill the resulting vacancy.
A copy
of this officer's application on Form P/1 is forwarded
for Your Lordship's information together with copies
of testimonials and a certificate relating to her
birth.
2.
It is proposed to appoint Dr. Fromer on
a temporary basis at a fixed salary of $4,500 per
annum with effect from 1st May, 1940. Dr. Frommer
is a Hungarian by birth but is on the local medical
Register. The Director of Medical Services reports
that she has experience in Maternity and Child Welfare
Work and understands and speaks good English.
3. It is also proposed to appoint an additional
Chinese Lady Medical Officer on a temporary basis at
a fixed salary of $2,400 per annum to be provided out

This
proposal has the consent of the Finance Committee
of the Legislative Council and I have the honour
